Remote : Streamzap
I tried my EPIA 5000 with freevix(diskless freevo for epia), back in 2003,
and I found it very interesting to have a pc for entertainment use.
But the EPIA5000 was not quite suited for the job, so I decided to wait for something better.
And when VIA announced the nano-itx I hoped to get one of those until I found out that I could be in for a long wait.
So I decided to go for the EPIA SP8000E. It was brand new and got the same CN400 as the nano-itx.
I ordered the stuff and started building the case.
I got the Streamzap remote and an Ira-3(internal) with WakeOnLan so I could turn the PC on with the remote.
It seemd like a good idea at the moment but what I didnt think of was that if the streamzap could turn the pc on,
so could every other remote in the living room. Now when I turn on my TV or Stereo, my htpc powers on too.
But that doesnt really matters since it's the entertainment center. :-)
A closeup.
My htpc is diskless and boots minimyth from my "server" via PXE. After booting I get this menu.
Here you can see the htpc at work
